Ireland's First Openly Gay Prime Minister

Leo Varadkar assumed Ireland’s role as Prime Minister on June 14. He is blazing a trail as the first openly gay man elected to lead the Republic of Ireland, where homosexuality was illegal until 24 years ago. Think about that for a moment! His plan is to assume a very centrist approach to leading as he told lawmakers “The government that I lead will not be one of left or right, because those old divisions don't comprehend the political challenges of today.”

It’s beautiful to see that a young man of 38 years of age will be leading an inclusive Ireland where everyone can realize their human potential.
